The Story of Embroidery: Art in Every Stitch

The Story of Embroidery: Art in Every Stitch

Embroidery is not just decoration — it is patience, precision, and passion woven together.

At Zarika – Threads of Lucknow, every piece begins with a thoughtfully created design. Our journey starts on paper, where traditional Lucknowi motifs are sketched carefully. Each floral pattern, jaali detail, and flowing vine is placed with balance and intention, ensuring harmony across the garment.

Once finalized, the design is transferred onto fabric using traditional tracing techniques. This becomes the guide for our artisans. From here, the true craftsmanship begins.

Sitting around wooden frames, our skilled karigars begin hand-stitching each motif. Classic Chikankari stitches like Bakhiya, Phanda, and Murri are done entirely by hand. No machines. No shortcuts. Just steady hands and focused dedication.

A single kurti can take several days to complete. The process demands patience — every thread must flow smoothly, every stitch must sit perfectly. Our artisans often say that embroidery requires a calm mind and a loving heart. It is this devotion that transforms simple fabric into timeless art.

In every stitch lies tradition. In every detail, a story.
